The runes are divided into three groups of eight runes. The groups are called Aetts or aettir, the Norse word for the number 8. The second group of runes are called Heimdall's 8. Heimdal is the all- see-er, the all knower. He is the guardian of Bitfrost, the bridge that connects Asgard with Midgard.
