Dark moon
The moon is the goddess, the female power source of our work and our lives. Similar to a woman in the fertile period of her life, the moon has a cycle of 28 days. Her power waxes and wanes during this cycle. She generously gives of herself to us and to the earth, bringing balance, abundance, and guidance. Controlling the tides, she aids us in our magic and our lives, working tirelessly. The dark moon is the period when she turns her face away briefly, to rest. During this time, we refrain from doing magic or asking anything of her, as she needs her rest. Those who have made the mistake of performing magic under a dark moon know that the energy can be very chaotic. The moon, the godess does not want to be bothered during this time.
What can you do?
- Clean up your altar and space.
- Study and read books about the craft.
- Give thanks to the goddess for all that she gives us.
- Pledge your loyalty and devotion to the gods you work with, tell them howmuch and why you love them and work with them.
- Engage in prayer and meditation.
- Make offerings and sacrifices, place some offerings outside, but also think about what you are offering to the goddess. We make offering because we are grateful for the things we receive and learn from them. Offerings are to thank them for their precense and guidance.
- Eat and drink healthily.
- Visit nature; observe your surroundings. What do you see? What time of the year is it, and do you notice any signs?
